Volvo C40 Recharge
Volvo has shown its next model in its step towards electrification in the shape of the new C40, essentially a coupe variant of its current XC40 compact SUV.
Utilising the same powertrain as the XC40 P8 Recharge and the Polestar 2, the car develops 402bhp from its twin motors, resulting in a sprightly 4.9 seconds dash from rest to 62mph. A standard 78kWh battery offers a potential range of up to 260 miles and will take a charging speed of up to 150kW where 80% charge can be achieved in around 40 minutes.
In another relatively bold move, Volvo have also announced that all its electric models will only be available to buy on-line, either outright, or on Volvo’s Care by Volvo subscription service.
The car is due to go into production this autumn with deliveries due before the start of 2022.
