Mercedes EQA 250
Mercedes-Benz have unveiled their next all-electric model to add to their EQ range, one of six to be launched by 2022.
The new EQA (an electric variant of their compact SUV, the GLA) will go on sale this spring in EQA 250 form, initially with just front wheel drive although an all-wheel drive option will follow, along with higher powered AMG versions.
A clever thermal management system features a heat pump that recycles waste heat from the drivetrain, whilst the climate pre-conditioning functions can be controlled by the car’s MBUX infotainment system or even the Mercedes Me app.
Producing 188bhp from it’s front-mounted motor, the car is capable of sprinting to 62mph from rest in 8.9 seconds, and will cover (according to WLTP figures) 311 miles from its 66.5kWh battery.
Prices are expected to start at under £40,000GBP making it a true rival to Kia’s successful eNiro, Ford’s upcoming Mustang Mach E and the much-anticipated VW I.D 4 and Skoda Enyaq eiV.
